Poet, writer, activist of human rights and women rights. She organized a literary salon in Paris where she received André Gide, Paul Valéry, Jean Cocteau, Colette, Paul Claudel, Marcel Proust as well as Eduard of Walles, future king Eduard VII. She published poems Litanies (1889), Le coeur innombrable (1901), L’ombre des Jours (1902). She travelled in Italy, Spain and Portugal and published her travel journal Les vivants et les morts in 1913. Member of the Royal Academy of Language and Literature of Belgium. Member of the Romanian Academy (1925).
